Dental services for children
Dental services for children age 20 and younger are covered directly by Apple Health (Medicaid) using your ProviderOne services card. The Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends all children see a dentist by 12 months of age.
Examples of covered dental services include:
- Routine exams and cleanings
- X-rays
- Sealants
- Fillings
- Crowns
- Fluoride application
- Extractions (removing teeth)
- Orthodontics (braces) for those with serious dental needs
Dental services for adults
Dental services for adults (21 years of age and older) are covered directly by Apple Health using your ProviderOne services card.
Examples of covered dental services include:
- Routine exams and cleanings cleanings
- X-rays
- Fillings
- Fluoride application
- Extractions (removing teeth)
- Root canal (front teeth only)
- Dentures/partials
- Stainless steel crowns
Dental services not covered for adults include, but are not limited to:
- Bridges
- Porcelain crowns
- Orthodontics (braces)
- Dental implants

Extra services for people with disabilities
If you are enrolled in the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) waiver program, you are eligible for certain additional dental services, including:
- Three exams per year
- Three cleanings per year
- Three topical fluoride treatments per year
- Periodontal services (additional coverage)
- Sealants (additional coverage for premolars)
