Medicaid and early childhood
How families are supported during pregnancy, infancy, and early childhood matters! Strengthening how Washington’s Medicaid and early childhood systems work together will help coordinate services and leverage opportunities to better serve families.
Medicaid connects families to preventive and developmental health care coverage and services. Early childhood providers and programs help families address social determinants of health. While Washington is rich in cross-agency and community partnerships to improve maternal child health and early childhood outcomes, there is work to do in connecting our services and programs.
Proactively connecting families to the right service at the right time is critical to improved individual and community health, and to successful life outcomes.
How do I...
- To create a healthier Washington where every child enters kindergarten with a solid foundation for success in school and life.
- To identify and develop strategies to integrate Medicaid funding into home-based early childhood services.
