Individuals enrolled in Apple Health (Medicaid), Public Employees Benefits Board, and School Employees Benefits Board coverage - and those accessing behavioral health services - will not experience a disruption in care due to the federal government shutdown. In addition, health care providers will continue to be paid for the services they provide. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and share updates if anything changes.

HCA is aware of RCW 28A.400.370 (mandatory insurance protection for employees) and that some districts provide other work-related liability insurance coverage, such as commercial driver’s insurance for bus drivers. Historically, liability insurance administered by HCA has included at least personal auto and home insurance.
School districts can continue to offer liability insurance (including personal auto and home insurance) if it does not compete with benefits under the SEB Board’s authority in RCW 41.05.740 or benefits offered under the health care authority's (HCA) authority in the salary reduction plan as described in WAC 182-30-140.
