Dental care
Dental treatment is safe throughout pregnancy and is important for your health as well as the health of your baby. Treating dental caries (or tooth decay) is especially critical for both the birthing parent and child, as a birthing parent’s healthy mouth may reduce or delay the child’s risk of developing future dental caries.

Pregnancy can increase your chances of needing mental health care for peripartum depression, anxiety, stress, or other anxiety or trauma related disorders. If you or your partner are experiencing any of the following symptoms during or after pregnancy, you may benefit from the support of a mental health provider:
- Difficulty sleeping, including excessive tiredness or difficulty staying or falling asleep
- Feeling isolated or irritable
- Excessive worry
- Avoiding activities that may have previously been enjoyable
- Feeling excessive bursts of energy
- Or if there is a history of mental health related issues or concerns
It is vital for the health of you and your newborn that mental health concerns are identified and appropriately treated during pregnancy.
If you need support, contact your prenatal care provider or find resources through Perinatal Support Washington.
