The state of Connecticut has joined Washington, Oregon, and Nevada in shared pharmacy benefit services through ArrayRx.
ArrayRx offers solutions to participating states grappling with increasing prescription drug costs and the lack of transparency in the pharmaceutical supply chain. The ArrayRx card is a state-backed program that can save people up to 80 percent for generic drugs and 20 percent for brand name drugs.
By signing an Intergovernmental Agreement with Washington, Oregon and Nevada, Connecticut can take advantage of the pharmacy benefit services ArrayRx delivers. A collaboration of state partners, ArrayRx was created with one common goal: to create pharmacy solutions that are accessible to the people in our communities. By providing transparent and value-based pharmacy solutions that are overseen and administered by states for public sector purchasers of prescription drugs, ArrayRx focuses on true program transparency where stewardship of tax dollars is the highest priority.
"Between 2004 and 2023, thousands of participants in Oregon, Washington and Nevada have benefitted from the ArrayRx programs," said Dr. Judy Zerzan-Thul, medical director for the Washington State Health Care Authority. "We welcome the residents of Connecticut to receive the same prescription drug discounts through the ArrayRx Card."
How the ArrayRx card works
There is a simple enrollment process, no associated cost, and no age or income restrictions. For those who have insurance, they can choose to use the ArrayRx Card or their pharmacy benefit at the point of sale, whichever provides a better price. All U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved drugs prescribed by a licensed provider are eligible for a discount, as well as some over-the-counter medications. Mail-order and specialty drugs are also available.

More ArrayRx programs
ArrayRx has an array of programs designed to assist states and other public entities with administering their pharmacy programs:
- ArrayRx Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) Program is a full-service pharmacy benefit administration that includes complete program transparency, and 100 percent pass-through on pharmacy costs and manufacturer rebates.
- ArrayRx Prescription Drug Voucher Program allows public sponsors to create a drug voucher for the individuals they serve that can be used at any participating pharmacy to have a prescription filled at no cost to the individual.
- ArrayRx Administrative Services Only (ASO) Rebate Program allows public entities to collect manufacturer rebates on prescription drugs paid for by their organization, lowering the cost of providing prescription drug benefits to individuals covered by their program.
A Medicaid fee-for-service offering is currently being built with input from six state Medicaid programs. This service will be available in 2024.
