Postpartum care

Postpartum mental health

Becoming a parent can be a difficult transition for any person and their family. After giving birth, about 1 in 5 birthing people experience postpartum anxiety and/or depression symptoms. Contact your care provider if you think you are experiencing postpartum anxiety or depression.

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding provides health benefits for you and your baby. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends breastfeeding for at least the first year of a child’s life. Your prenatal care provider may offer breastfeeding education and support or should be able to refer you to other resources as needed.
