Apple Health Expansion enrollment update
You can apply for Apple Health (Medicaid) coverage year-round.
Apple Health Expansion is one of the few Apple Health programs with limited enrollment.
The enrollment limit for Apple Health Expansion has been met. If you have not applied, you can still complete your application for Apple Health Expansion to be considered if space opens in the program.
If you applied for coverage and were denied because the cap was met, there are no additional steps you need to take. There is still a possibility you may be randomly selected to enroll if space opens in the program. You will receive an eligibility notice if you are selected for enrollment.

Update to Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients and other people with qualifying immigration statuses
Due to a recent federal change, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients and other people with qualifying immigration statuses can now access increased federal savings through Washington Healthplanfinder as of November 1, 2024.
These individuals are no longer eligible for Apple Health Expansion because they now qualify for qualified health plan (QHP) with tax credits. Currently enrolled Apple Health Expansion clients who are affected by this change will not transition to a QHP unless they update their application or no longer qualify for other eligibility reasons.
This change does not affect other Apple Health (Medicaid) programs.

Program requirements
You may be eligible for Apple Health for Pregnant individuals coverage if you:
- Are pregnant.
- Live in Washington State.
- Have income at or below 210 percent of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) (see income chart below).*

*The income standards listed in these examples include the 5% income disregard and are subject to change annually every April.
** Household includes the unborn child. For example, a single individual expecting one child is a 2-person household.
This program provides coverage to pregnant individuals with countable income at or below the Apple Health standard, regardless of citizenship or immigration status. Your household size includes yourself, the unborn children, and additional household members such as a spouse and children.
Not eligible? You may still qualify for other services.

After-Pregnancy Coverage
If you are enrolled in Apple Health coverage and are pregnant, your coverage will automatically transition to After-Pregnancy Coverage (APC) once your pregnancy ends. APC lasts for 12 months, starting the first day of the month after your pregnancy ends. For example, if your pregnancy ended June 10, your health care coverage would continue through June 30 of the following year.
You may be eligible for APC if you were pregnant in the last 12 months and were not on Apple Health during the pregnancy. After you are enrolled in APC, changes to your income will not affect your APC coverage regardless of how your pregnancy ends.
Confidential services
If you are a teen (under age 19) and you want your pregnancy-related services to be kept confidential, you may apply for coverage through a paper application process.
Applying for Apple Health coverage
You have many options to apply for Apple Health coverage. Visit our Apply for or renew coverage webpage to learn more.
When you’re ready to apply, you’ll need:
- Your household monthly income.
- The Social Security numbers and dates of birth for each member of your household.
- Your immigration information, if that applies to you.
Enrollment next steps
If you're accepted, you'll receive a ProviderOne services card in about two weeks. Coverage will begin on the first day of the month in which the application was submitted. You'll have the option to select a managed care plan online or you'll be auto-enrolled into a plan. Learn more about enrollment next steps.
If you are pregnant and already enrolled in an Apple Health managed care plan, contact your managed care plan to get more information about covered pregnancy services.
If you are pregnant and on Apple Health without a managed care plan, contact the Health Care Authority to let us know that you are pregnant. This will ensure you receive the most coverage during your pregnancy and for 12 months following the end of the pregnancy.
